The 27th Strip of the series: "Daddys Aren't Supposed To Die" Miriam is not going to be satisfied until she knows exactly what is going on. So, Zeyde is going to tell her about the actual Taharah rituals. Zeyde makes the statement; "...children should always be given an answer according to their level of understanding." This is also true of any question that a child may bring to a parent or another adult. Of course, with some questions, the answer from the adult may be; "This is a question that should be answered by your parents." Miriam is a very bright young lady, and Zeyde knows that she will understand most of what he is about to tell her. He will not tell her anything that will upset her, or cause her to be embarrassed for her father. Rabbi Shafan, or Uncle B as Miriam calls him, has arrived at the funeral home and is about to turn Benny over to the Chevrah Kadisha. From this point on, the met (or body) will not be left alone until the burial. At this point we would like to offer our many thanks to Larry Feinstein, of the Chevrah Kadisha serving the Flint area Jewish community, for all of his help and answers that made this series possible. Larry has made himself available to us throughout the whole process, and there is no way we could have accomplished what we intended without his help. Unfortunately, while Randy was on vacation in Toronto, and I was on vacation in Oscoda, Larry's wife, Rita (May her memory be for a blessing), passed away. Our sincerest condolences go to Larry and his family. "Thirsting for G-d is our task in this world. Quenching that thirst will be our reward in the World to Come." Rebbe Nachman of Breslov (RNW #259)
